Terms of Use
Hashiba · Last updated 30 September 2026
Hashiba is operated by Cheung Pak Wai (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us. By installing or using the app, you accept them. If you don’t, don’t use the app.
What Hashiba is
A reader for Palm eBook (PalmDOC) and iSilo documents in .pdb files. It opens files you already have. It doesn’t sell, supply or download books, and it doesn’t create or edit them.
Your books are your responsibility
Only open files you have the right to read. We don’t see, check or host anything you open in Hashiba, and we aren’t responsible for what those files contain. Links inside a book go wherever its author pointed them; we don’t control those sites.
Using the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use Hashiba on your own devices. Please don’t sell or redistribute the app itself, or pass off a modified copy as ours. Hashiba is free: there are no purchases, no subscriptions and no ads.
How faithfully books are shown
Hashiba does its best, but it can’t promise a perfect match. The iSilo format has no public specification, and Palm eBooks don’t record their text encoding.
Some books may show formatting that differs from the original, choose the wrong encoding until you pick another from the menu, or include features Hashiba doesn’t support yet, such as clickable image maps and menus. If a book looks wrong, email us and tell us about it.
Trademarks
Hashiba is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the makers of iSilo or Palm. iSilo and Palm are trademarks of their respective owners, and we use the names only to say which files the app opens.
Your privacy
Hashiba has no account and no internet access, and your books stay on your phone. The privacy policy explains exactly what the app stores and where.
Availability
We may change, update or stop offering the app. The app is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Keep your own copies of the files you care about; removing a book from Hashiba deletes only the app’s copy, not your original.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the content of any file you open. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death, personal injury or fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local law gives you, and nothing in these terms takes those away.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use Hashiba after a change means you accept it.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not take away the protections of the law where you live.
