Hashiba · Last updated 30 September 2026
Hashiba is an Android app for reading Palm eBooks and iSilo .pdb documents. This page explains what the app stores, where it stays, and who else sees it. Hashiba is operated by Cheung Pak Wai, and “we” and “us” mean us.
The short version: we collect nothing. Hashiba does not have Android’s permission to use the internet, so it cannot send anything to us or to anyone else. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting inside the app.
What the app stores on your phone
To work as a library, Hashiba keeps the following in its own private storage on your device:
- Copies of the books you open. When you add a .pdb file with the file picker or open one with “Open with”, the app copies it in, so the book keeps opening after a restart.
- A list of those books: each one’s title, file size and the text encoding it uses.
- Where you stopped reading in each book.
- Your text size.
Hashiba only sees the files you choose to open. It does not browse your storage, and it does not ask for access to your photos, contacts, location, camera or microphone.
What reaches us
Nothing. We run no server for Hashiba, and the app has no way to connect to one. We never see your books, your library or your reading.
When other apps or services are involved
- Links in your books. If you tap a web, email or phone link inside a book, Hashiba hands it to the app on your phone that handles it: your browser, mail app or dialler. What happens next is covered by that app’s privacy policy, not this one.
- Android backup. If backup is turned on in your phone’s settings, Android may include Hashiba’s storage, including the copied books, in your device backup with Google. That is controlled by your phone’s settings and Google’s privacy policy, and the backup never reaches us.
- Google Play. Google handles downloading and updating the app. If you have chosen to share usage and diagnostics with Google, Google may pass us anonymous statistics such as install counts and crash reports, which do not include your books or anything that identifies you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. We have none to sell or share.
Deleting your data
- One book: in the library, press and hold the book and tap Remove. The app’s copy of the file is deleted along with its reading position.
- Everything: uninstall Hashiba, or clear its storage in Android’s settings. That deletes every copied book and every setting.
Removing a book from Hashiba never touches the original file you opened it from.
Children
Hashiba collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If a future version handles your information differently, we will update this page and change the date at the top before that version is released.
